Frequently Asked Questions

What is a decorative overlay?
Decorative overlay is a polymer modified cementicious mix designed to give excellent protective durability, while decorating new or existing concrete to simulate brick, tile, stone, slate, and other configurations.
What are some uses for a decorative overlay?
Decorative concrete overlays can be used in all places where you have plain concrete, but want a more decorative look, both residential and commercial (i.e. pool decks, driveways, sidewalks, patios, etc.).
How thick is a decorative overlay?
The typical application is applied at 1/8 inch, although it can be applied as thin or as thick as necessary depending on the application.
Will the decorative overlay colors fade?
No, all pigments used are UV stable.
How long is the lifespan of a decorative overlay?
The decorative overlay is as good as the concrete it is bonded to and should last for many years if maintained as recommended.
How is a decorative overlay cleaned?
The use of typical household cleaners that are ammonia based can be used. Another way is to pressure wash the overlay.
Will existing cracks or new cracks in the concrete come through the overlay?
Even though we have a crack bridging process we perform, there is always a chance the cracks will mirror up through the overlay.
Is the decorative overlay cooler to walk on than concrete?
Because of how the material is produced, the material can dissipate the heat a lot quicker, making the surface cooler.
